Nothing Personal
We all have our hang-ups, right? We are all products of our environment. As we grow, what we react to, how we react and how we think becomes built into us. That includes how we express (or don’t) love, compassion, anger - all the emotions. Our make-up doesn’t usually include figuring out if another person is able to understand us, we just behave as we are subtly trained and expect that they will get it. After all, don’t we all have similar feelings? Feelings yes, but not the way they are expressed. We neglect to realize that the other person is also a productof what’s influenced them which could be (and usually is) quite different from how we see and feel things ourselves. If we would keep in mind that the behaviour we see is a reaction from the past and not to be taken personally, our relationships would have a much better chance of being healthy. Of course, coming to terms within ourselves of our own reactive behaviour and controlling how we express it in consideration of others is ideal.
